Whether you’ve used a VA before or not, the principles of fully utilising a business support function remain the same.

The team at GlowingCo like to focus on the relationships we create with our clients and how those connections work when we’re supporting your business.

Here are some simple tips to help you get the most out of your Virtual Assistant!

Communicate

Tell us how you’d like to communicate when working together.

Let us know what you need when it comes to us slotting in and supporting you: we want to be on the same page as you, and in order to do that, instructions, expectations, boundaries and updates must be clear and communicated in a way that both sides fully understand.

We’d like to think we are approachable and we pride ourselves on being flexible, so lets keep the open lines of communication flowing!

Trust your VA

We totally understand that you know your business inside out. It is your baby and you are the boss!

Without a doubt, there will be certain things that you haven‘t mastered.

Tasks you don’t enjoy and spend lots of time on, which take you away from more productive and lucrative things, so you need to let go.

Let go and trust us!

Trust that we are here to do our job, whilst you do yours.

We are skilled at what we do, adapting quickly to your way of working and will provide excellent support to your business.

Be flexible

Have flexibility with your expectations and delegations – the world chops and changes all the time and your workload is likely to do the same.
We are used to varied workloads, multi-tasking, new technology and ever changing structures – and we will adapt accordingly.

Create a partnership

One must remember that a working relationship is no relationship at all if you don’t work in partnership.
We are here to help you and your business, to be part of your journey and work alongside you. Utilise this partnership, lean on us when you need us and respect the assistance we provide!

Review regularly

Our packages are reviewed on a monthly basis and adjusted based on your business needs at the time, so that you get the best out of your VA, in the most cost effective way for you.

Together we will review what’s been achieved so far, give feedback on things that might need tweaking and then plan ahead for what you’ll need next!

If you have a big project looming, we will increase the hours and allocate more workload to your VA. If you’re winding down into a less busy period for your industry, we can reduce the hours you allocate to your VA, until such time you need them more again.

If you’re thinking of using a VA, take these tips into account. If you’d like an impartial chat, feel free to drop us an email or give us a call.

In these changing times, many of us are working from home more than we ever have before.
Most will see this as a huge perk, but, sometimes we all need a little productivity boost!
So, we’ve created a list of top tips to help you get the most out of your day:

Maintain regular working hours

It’s easy to log on and off at different times when a commute doesn’t break up your day – so simply set yourself some time boundaries.

Create a morning routine

Set an alarm, have a shower, get dressed, get some fresh air, make a coffee (or tea if you prefer!), write your to-do / task list and get yourself in “work mode” ready for the day ahead.

Take breaks

It’s important for your concentration & creativity levels to properly step away from what you’re doing to re gain focus. It is not healthy to sit and stare at a screen all day long – get up and move away from your laptop!

Get out of the house

Working and living in the same space can give you “cabin fever”.
Now, we realise this has been a challenge at times over recent months, however, make sure you’re getting a change of scenery regularly when you can! (Safely and within current covid-19 guidelines for your area)

Keep a dedicated workspace

It can be tempting to work from your kitchen table, the sofa or even your bed, just because you can! However, your mindset won’t thank you for it.
Make a workspace so that you can get into the right headspace, separate from your living space!

Over-communicate

We are not seeing others face to face as often right now, so make sure you’re clear in your communication and keeping regular contact with colleagues and peers!

Don’t be too hard on yourself

We all have off days… Just because you’re at home doesn’t mean it’s any less of a challenge than if you were in the office.
Please do not think that just because you’re away from your usual workplace that you have something extra to prove.
Appreciate yourself and what you achieve, one day at a time!

Enjoy the perks of being at home

Go for a nice walk on your lunch break, do some baking, or maybe even some life-admin like putting a wash on or running the hoover round…
Our founder, Morelle, has some super home working = house cleaning tips… she is our very own version of Mrs Hinch!!

It’s been a tough year and for many of us the impact will cause changes to our mental health.

October marked World Mental Health Day – being aware of our own state of mind has not always been at the forefront of our minds (please excuse the pun!) until recent times. For some, it is a welcome highlight on the challenges we face day to day.

At GlowingCo, we think ones mental health is really important.
So, here are our 8 tips for looking after your mental health:

Make time for yourself

Do something just for you.

Commit to doing something that you really enjoy.

It could be a bit of sewing, painting, reading, listening to a podcast, cooking, writing… the list is endless!

Keep a gratitude journal

Remember when you were a child, it was likely that a diary was something you liked to keep. But as we get older and have less time, it is something we often leave out of our routine. But the benefits of jotting down your thoughts are immeasurable.

If you’re new to this practise, start by simply writing down 5 things you’re grateful for.

Do this everyday and you’ll see your mindset shift!

A good tip is to do this at the end of the day, just before you go to bed, as your mind reflects on the day and you can drift off to sleep thinking about positive things.

Acknowledge your feelings

Accept the changes in your emotions and allow them to pass through you.

No feeling is permanent. Feelings are only “stuck” for as long you resist them, deny them, focus too heavily on them, or pretend to feel otherwise… the moment you can say “yes, I’m sad!” or acknowledge any other so called “negative” feeling, it flows through you quickly and is released within seconds.

Keep away from focussing on how to change these emotions and feelings. Sometimes sitting with your feelings / emotions, acknowledging them and knowing that “this too, shall pass” is all you need to defuse their power.

Connect with those close to us

Give them a call, meet up for coffee, drop them a text, write them a letter or send a post card, it’s important to stay connected!

Have a digital detox

We love this one here at GlowingCo – we practice it often, as we know how important it is to just switch OFF.

Leave your social media for a while, set yourself some screen time limits – you will be amazed at how much calmer you feel when not mindlessly scrolling through ‘stuff’.

It’s also worth looking at your connections online and de-cluttering those which simply do not make you feel good.

Prioritize your sleep

Sleep is SO important and has tons of benefits. Make it a priority!

Experts say you need around 8 hours of good sleep per night in order to perform at your best.
Get yourself to bed earlier than normal, set an alarm for the morning and stick to a regular and respected routine to ensure you are getting the right amount of sleep for you.

We get that a perfect nights sleep isn’t always possible (kids etc!!), so you might benefit from a power nap in the afternoon. If you are able to do so, give it a try – just 10-20 minutes can restore alertness, performance and your learning ability.

A nap may also reverse the hormonal impact of a night of poor sleep or reverse the damage of sleep deprivation.

Fuel your body

Eat the things that make you feel good and enjoy a healthy balanced diet.

Moderation is key – you really are what you eat!

Move

Whether that’s a walk, run, gym session or yoga – get active every day.

Getting out and about for exercise might be a challenge for some of us right now, due to guidelines, shielding or quarantining, so try an online workout instead.
There are plenty out there which allow you to exercise in a very small space, so throw open the windows, get the air flowing and your blood pumping!

…………..

Remember to look after your mental health and that of others.

Check in with yourself and those around you.

Never be afraid to ask for help.

………………
